Plastic Omnium and Rein Hytech, a subsidiary of the Shenergy Group, have launched a new 50/50 joint venture, PO-Rein, to produce high pressure hydrogen storage systems for the Chinese commercial vehicle market.

Announced on January 11, 2023, the joint venture will build a production site in Jiading District, Shanghai, to serve the growing Chinese hydrogen market: the first production line for Type IV high-pressure hydrogen storage containers will be operational by 2025, and a large-scale factory with a capacity of up to 60,000 high-pressure storage containers per year is planned to be operational by 2026.

On January 10th of this year, Plastic Omnium and Rein Hytech announced the establishment of a 50/50 joint venture in Shanghai to manufacture and supply Type 3 and Type 4 high-pressure hydrogen cylinders and storage systems for the commercial vehicle market in China.

The joint venture will combine Rein Hytech 's strengths in manufacturing hydrogen storage and transportation systems in the Chinese market with Plastic Omnium 's leading technology in the field of high pressure hydrogen storage cylinders, and will invest in the construction of the first production base in Jiading Hydrogen Port in phases.
